In its third year, numerous grassroots initiatives and projects once again entered the running for the Simon Wiesenthal Prize,  which is endowed with 30,000 euros. The prize is dedicated to the memory of the architect, publicist and writer Simon Wiesenthal (1908-2005) and is awarded in the categories “Civic engagement to combat antisemitism” and “Civic engagement to educate the public about the Holocaust”. The National Fund of the Republic of Austria received around 200 applications from 30 countries worldwide, from Europe, North, Central and South America, the Middle East, South Africa and Australia among others. The projects and initiatives submitted are beacons of hope from around the world, leading the way in the fight against antisemitism and efforts to educate the public about the Holocaust.
