Description

The Jewish cemetery in Währing was used from 1784 until around 1884 and is occupied by up to 30,000 people. In the last 20 years, repeated efforts have been made by civil society and politicians to save this cemetery from progressive deterioration. The cemetery is kept locked. Information on guided tours and possible visiting dates is available from the Jewish Community Vienna.

Description

Clearance work, creation of a cemetery plan using aerial photography, commissioning the services of a general planner

Clearance work will be carried out at the Jewish cemetery in Währing. This will involve the following services: clearance of shrubbery and undergrowth, removal of rootstock and horticultural maintenance. In addition a plan of the cemetery (inventory of the external facilities, tree cadaster and tree control) will be created using aerial photography. Funding was also awarded to commission the services of a general planner (to catalogue the objects and damage, for restoration measures, architectural planning services, senior management of object and damage cataloging, of the tree cadaster, tree control and the architectural planning services).
