Renovation of remaining areas of the cemetery wall

For the remaining areas of the cemetery wall, public safety and the preservation of the walls is to be ensured.

laser scan sector 1 and 2

Funding is provided for a 3D laser scan with field alignment in sector 1 (west of the main avenue) of the Jewish cemetery in Währing and a 3D laser scan without field alignment in sector 2 (east of the main avenue). This involves surveying and data processing, which is necessary for the continuation of the cemetery restoration.

At the Jewish cemetery in Währing, stonemasons and restorers are being funded in test areas 2 and 3. This involves the restoration of gravestones, lifting and grave numbering. In addition, funding is provided for site supervision.

Imminent danger / lifting work (stones) / manipulation by the stonemason

Urgent measures will be carried out at the Jewish Cemetery in Währing as it is a case of so-called “imminent danger”. The funding will be used for necessary lifting work and stone manipulation by the stonemason; the restoration of surfaces that had been altered by the archaeological excavations; and site supervision.

Realization

Between March and November 2019 the following work needs to be carried out at the Jewish cemetery in Währing: Wall restoration, Archeological excavations and Architectural services.

Tree maintenance, clearance work, replacement planting

Setting up the construction site, tree maintenance measures priority 1–3, clearance work, felling, replacement planting, coordination.

Clearance work, creation of a cemetery plan using aerial photography, commissioning the services of a general planner

Clearance work will be carried out at the Jewish cemetery in Währing. This will involve the following services: clearance of shrubbery and undergrowth, removal of rootstock and horticultural maintenance. In addition a plan of the cemetery (inventory of the external facilities, tree cadaster and tree control) will be created using aerial photography. Funding was also awarded to commission the services of a general planner (to catalogue the objects and damage, for restoration measures, architectural planning services, senior management of object and damage cataloging, of the tree cadaster, tree control and the architectural planning services).
