Description

The cemetery belonging to the Jewish Community Ybbs (later the Jewish Community Amstetten) was founded in 1894 and is located in Göttsbach. It has a cemetery caretaker's house and a Tahara house in Moorish style. During the Nazi period, virtually all of the gravestones were sold; around 100 stones were returned in the 1960s and reinstated at the cemetery. The cemetery is kept locked, the key is available from the local municipal offices.

Description

Realization

The office of the Secretary General received an application for funding from the Jewish Community Vienna. Between March and November 2019 the following work needs to be carried out at the Jewish cemetery in Göttsbach/Ybbs: Masonry restoration, General contractor / Master Builder work on tahara building and walling

The Jewish Community Vienna will request the Province of Lower Austria (Art and Culture Dept.) for a 25 % subsidy of the project costs regarding the application for the cemetery in Göttsbach/Ybbs (subproject III). (42,425.71 €)

The application was examined for scrutability. Following discussions by the Advisory Board, the application was granted.

The Fund’s Board of Trustees complied with the recommendation of the Advisory Board.

Description

Tree and green space maintenance

At the Jewish cemetery in Göttsbach/Ybbs tree and green space maintenance was carried out.

This involved setting up and clearing the construction site, tree maintenance measures priority 3, clearance and felling, green space maintenance, cutting free the cemetery wall and coordination work.

At the Jewish cemetery in Göttsbach Ybbs, following a call to tender a general planner will be appointed to provide the following services: inventorying and producing a plan, object and damage record, landscaping and gardening work, planning services and architecture, overall administration of business.

Description

General contracting services for the restoration of the Taharahaus

The services to be performed by the general contracting team cover all planning necessary for the restoration of the Taharahaus (a building used for ritual washing) and drawing up a list of services for the construction work, the call to tender, determination of the best offer and all monitoring and coordination of the construction work.

Specialized planning landscaping

Planning work covers the entire cemetery. All planning for the landscaping work incl. the creation of tree cadastre, drawing up and implementing the call to tender.

No services commissioned at present.

Specialized planning statics

Any services potentially required regarding statics of the Taharahaus.

With a letter dated 23 February 2015 the Jewish Community Vienna informed the Fund that is was withdrawing its application, and would return the original grant agreement and reimburse the funds already received. The funds already disbursed were transferred back into the account of the Fund for the Restoration of the Jewish Cemeteries in Austria on 9 March 2015.
