Description

Members of the Jewish religious community in Baden and Jewish spa guests were among those who are buried in the Jewish cemetery, which was built in 1873 and expanded several times. A ceremonial hall built in Art Nouveau style at the beginning of the 20th century was blown up during the November pogroms of 1938. The cemetery is kept locked, the key can be obtained from the local municipal offices.

Description

General contractor work / tree maintenance / clearing / replacement planting / structural renovation of the gravesites / local construction supervision

Funding applications were filed for the following work at Baden Jewish cemetery:

General contractor work: perimeter wall to the east, south and west, metal fence with entry gates, guard’s house, outdoor facilities, paintwork, refurbishment of the wooden window frames and doors;

Tree maintenance work: tree maintenance measures priority 1–3, clearance and felling, replacement planting; exposing suspected gravesites; coordination work;

Structural renovation of the gravesites;

Local construction supervision: inventory of content and damage, restoration work on the gravestones and tombs, architectural planning services, overall management.

Description

Clearing / creation of a cemetery plan using aerial photos / general planner services

Clearing work will be carried out at the Jewish Cemetery in Baden: an initial clearing round, clearing the perimeter walls (eastern and southern mixed masonry walls and western reinforced concrete walls), clearing of the southern metal fencing, freeing up the exterior side of the wall, mechanical removal of root systems and additional clearing rounds where necessary;

In addition, a cemetery plan created with the assistance of aerial photos will be commissioned: images and production of an inventory plan (inventory of the outdoor facilities), data delivery (software), preparation and post-processing (workshops), data updates prior to the project finish (plan update), tree cadaster and tree inspection;

Furthermore, a general planner will be contracted: record of objects and damage, restoration work on graves and tombs, architectural planning services, overall management.
